Labeling

Everything we publish falls into one of three clearly-marked categories:

| Category | How it is marked | Byline | |---|---|---| | Editorial | No commercial label | A named member of staff | | Press release / sponsored | "Press Release" or "Sponsored Content" badge on the article, in every listing, and in the page's structured data | The submitting organisation | | Automated summary | "Automated summary" label, with sources named and linked | "Kenya Wire Newsroom" |

The label travels with the item everywhere it appears. It is applied when the content is rendered, not left to an editor to remember.

Authorship

We do not invent journalists. We do not attach fabricated names, photographs, biographies or credentials to any content. Staff bylines belong to real people. Automated content is bylined as automated.

Paid content

  • Payment buys distribution, not coverage, and never an editorial label.
  • Outbound links in press releases and syndicated content carry `rel="sponsored nofollow"`. This is enforced by the publishing system at render time.
  • We do not sell dofollow links, "guaranteed placement" in editorial, or search rankings, and we do not accept submissions whose stated purpose is link acquisition.

Sources and attribution

Aggregated and summarised items name their source, link to it, and carry a canonical tag pointing at the original. We summarise to add value — context, a local angle, correct dates — not to displace the original.
